The Missouri State Capitol stands at 201 West Capitol Avenue in Jefferson City, serving as the home of the Missouri General Assembly and the state's executive branch. Designed in the Neoclassical style by the New York City firm of Tracy and Swartwout, it was completed in 1917 as the third capitol built in the city, the two earlier ones having been damaged by fire and demolished. Its dome is the first thing travelers see when approaching Jefferson City from the north.
