Montauk Point Light stands on Turtle Hill at the easternmost tip of Long Island in Montauk, New York. Designed by John McComb Jr., it was the first lighthouse built in New York State and is the fourth oldest active lighthouse in the United States. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 2012 for its significance to New York and international shipping in the early Federal period, it is now a privately run museum, separate from the adjacent Montauk Point State Park.
