The Munich Residence is a château and former royal palace of the Wittelsbach monarchs of Bavaria in central Munich, Germany. Begun in 1385, it is the largest city palace in Germany and is now open to visitors for its architecture, room decorations and royal collections. Its ten courtyards and 130 rooms are organised around three main parts, and the Festsaalbau houses the Cuvilliés Theatre and the Herkulessaal concert hall.
