Villa Koliba in Zakopane, Poland, is the first building ever constructed in the Zakopane Style, designed by Stanisław Witkiewicz and built between 1892 and 1893. Crafted from wood, this pioneering example of the regional architectural style takes its name from the Polish Goral word for shepherds' hut. Now operating as a museum division of the Tatra Museum, the villa documents and preserves the distinctive Zakopane Style that emerged from this landmark structure. Recognized as an immovable monument in Poland since 1983, Villa Koliba remains central to understanding the origins and character of this locally rooted architectural tradition.
