The Museum van het Heilig Bloed occupies the Basilica of the Holy Blood on Burg square in Bruges, Belgium, a Roman Catholic minor basilica. Built between 1134 and 1157 as the chapel of the Count of Flanders, it has a dark Romanesque lower chapel dedicated to St. Basil the Great that remains virtually unchanged. The upper chapel, rebuilt in Gothic style in the 16th century, holds the venerated relic of the Holy Blood.
