The New York Court of Appeals Building stands at the corner of Eagle and Pine streets in central Albany, New York. This stone Greek Revival building, completed in 1842 to a design by Henry Rector, is one of only two extant buildings known to be his work. Its rotunda incorporates all three classical orders, and stone arches support its ceilings in an early attempt at fireproofing. The courtroom, designed by Henry Hobson Richardson in the 1880s, was later moved here from the state capitol.
