Built in 1872 in Vlašim, Czech Republic, the Občanská záložna Vlašim is a savings bank designed by architect Saturnin Heller in the Renaissance Revival style. The building, which served as a Vorschußkasse (cooperative savings institution), exemplifies the economic institutions that emerged across Central Europe in the nineteenth century to provide credit to local communities. Now designated a cultural monument of the Czech Republic, it represents both an important architectural statement and a significant record of Vlašim's nineteenth-century civic and commercial development.
