Ocean City City Hall, built in 1914 in Ocean City, New Jersey, exemplifies the Beaux-Arts architectural style favored for civic buildings of the early twentieth century. Designed by architect Vivian B. Smith, the building has served as a centerpiece of municipal governance and community life. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 13, 1997, recognizing its historical significance. The structure has become a cultural fixture, particularly during fall when Ocean City High School students annually transform it into a haunted house to celebrate Halloween—a tradition that, while occasionally interrupted, reflects the building's enduring role in the community's public events and identity.
