The Old Patent Office Building is a Greek Revival structure in Washington, D.C., occupying an entire city block between F and G Streets and 7th and 9th Streets NW in the Penn Quarter. Built between 1836 and 1867, it first served as one of the earliest U.S. Patent Office buildings and later housed several federal departments, including the first exhibits of the Smithsonian Institution. It now houses the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the National Portrait Gallery.
