The Old Synagogue in Erfurt, Thuringia, Germany, is a former Jewish synagogue in Romanesque style, dating from the late 11th century, with most of its present fabric from around 1250 to 1320. Its intact roof is thought to make it the oldest intact synagogue building in the world. After the local Jewish community was massacred and expelled in 1349, it served as a storehouse, restaurant and ballroom. Since 2009 it has operated as a museum of local Jewish history.
