The Old Synagogue (Alte Synagoge) stands at Steeler Straße 29 in Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Designed by Edmund Körner in Art Nouveau and Byzantine Revival styles, it was consecrated as the Neue Synagoge in 1913 and served a Reform Jewish congregation until Kristallnacht in 1938. Repurposed as a Jewish museum in 1960, it was later restored to its original design and now documents the history of Essen's former Jewish community.
