Oluvil Lighthouse stands on Sri Lanka's southern east coast at Oluvil, about 12 km south of Kalmunai, and is operated by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. Built in 1999 as part of the development of Oluvil Harbour, it is a 24-metre white cylindrical concrete tower with a lantern and gallery, attached to a one-storey equipment building. It was the first lighthouse erected after Sri Lankan independence, a distinction it held until the Hambantota and Colombo port expansions of 2012–13.
