The Oratory of San Niccolò del Ceppo, located on via de' Pandolfini in Florence, is a Baroque prayer hall completed in 1734 after extensive refurbishment. Established by the thirteenth-century Company of San Niccolò del Ceppo—a confraternity whose name derives from the practice of depositing offerings through slots in hollow tubes—the oratory came under the company's possession in 1561. The interior is richly appointed with religious artwork spanning centuries: a main altar features a 1610 fresco by Francesco Curradi flanked by canvases of the Visitation by Giovanni Antonio Sogliani, while the ceiling bears a fresco of the Life of Saint Niccolò painted by Giovanni Domenico Ferretti in 1734. Additional frescoes by Pieter de Witte and Giuseppe Servolini ornament the space, and a sacristy preserves a circa 1430 Crucifixion with Saints Nicola and Francis by Fra Angelico, formerly displayed above the main altar.
