Örbyhus Castle (Örbyhus slott) is a castle in Tierp Municipality, Sweden, lying about 12 kilometres east of European route E4, roughly halfway between Uppsala and Gävle. Known since the 14th century, the estate was turned into a castle in the 15th century by Johan Kristensson Vasa, grandfather of King Gustav Vasa. The castle was later used as a prison, and its best-known prisoner, King Eric XIV of Sweden, died there in 1577.
