Ortaköy Mosque, formally the Büyük Mecidiye Camii, stands at the waterside of the Ortaköy pier square in Beşiktaş, Istanbul, on the Bosphorus. Commissioned by the Ottoman sultan Abdülmecid I and completed around 1854 or 1856, it is attributed to the architect Garabet Amira Balyan and is in the Ottoman style. It is a symbol of the district and is often photographed with the Bosphorus Bridge in view.
