Orvieto Cathedral, dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, is a Gothic Catholic cathedral and minor basilica in the Umbrian hilltop town of Orvieto, central Italy. Begun in 1290, it was built under Pope Urban IV to house the Corporal of Bolsena, a relic tied to a miracle said to have occurred in 1263. Its façade features a large rose window, golden mosaics and three bronze doors.
