Ottobeuren Abbey is a Benedictine abbey in Ottobeuren, near Memmingen in the Bavarian Allgäu, Germany, and is an architectural heritage monument in Bavaria. Its Baroque architecture is attributed to Simpert Kramer. For part of its history it was one of the roughly 40 self-ruling imperial abbeys of the Holy Roman Empire, a virtually independent state covering 266 square kilometres with about 10,000 subjects until its dissolution in 1802.
