Our Lady of Sorrows Basilica is a Catholic minor basilica, national shrine and parish church on Chicago's West Side, at 3121 West Jackson Boulevard within the Archdiocese of Chicago. Construction began in 1874 in the Renaissance Revival style, designed by John F. Pope, Henry Engelbert and William J. Brinkmann. It houses the National Shrine of Saint Peregrine and is one of few "Black basilicas" in the United States, given its significant African-American population.
