Demolished or destroyed.
The Palace of Whitehall, at Westminster in the Kingdom of England, was the main residence of the English monarchs from 1530 until 1698, when fire destroyed most of its structures. Apart from Inigo Jones's Banqueting House of 1622, which survives, little remains. At its most expansive, the palace covered about 23 acres and had more than 1,500 rooms, making it once the largest palace in Europe.
