The Palacio Legislativo de San Lázaro is the main seat of Mexico's legislative power in Mexico City, serving as the permanent meeting place of the Chamber of Deputies and hosting joint sessions of the Congress of the Union with the Senate. Designed by Pedro Ramírez Vázquez in the modern style, it was built in 1981 after a 1977 political reform. It stands about a mile east of the Zócalo, in the Venustiano Carranza borough, beside the Palace of Federal Justice, on the site of the former San Lázaro Railway Station, from which it takes its name.
