The Palacio Valdés Theatre stands in Avilés, Asturias, in northern Spain. Designed by Manuel del Busto, it was planned in the Neobaroque style with a longitudinal layout set parallel to the front façade because of technical problems with its site. Work began with the first stone laid on 5 August 1900, but funding shortages halted construction repeatedly, and the theatre opened in 1920, named after the writer Armando Palacio Valdés. It was declared a Bien de Interés Cultural, in the Monument category, in 1982.
