Palazzo Chigi stands in Piazza Colonna in Rome, beside Palazzo Montecitorio, the seat of the Chamber of Deputies. Begun in 1580 to designs by Giacomo della Porta, it blends Mannerist, Renaissance and Baroque architecture. A former noble residence, it is now the seat of the Council of Ministers and the official residence of Italy's prime minister.
