Palazzo Farnese is a High Renaissance city palace in Rome, Italy, and one of the most important palaces of its period. Begun in 1515 and first designed in 1517 for the Farnese family, it was expanded after Alessandro Farnese became Pope Paul III in 1534, to designs by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger, with Michelangelo and Giacomo della Porta also involved. It was given to the French government in 1936 for 99 years and serves as the French Embassy in Italy.
