Located in the center of Grosseto on Piazza del Popolo, the former Casa del Fascio—also known as Palazzo Littorio—stands as a hybrid example of eclecticism and Italian Rationalism designed by Renato Della Rocca and Ugo Giovannozzi and completed in 1927. The building occupies the southern side of the piazza, positioned between the Rimembranza Bastion and the Porta Nuova gateway, on a site that once lay within Grosseto's sixteenth-century Medicean fortifications, which were demolished between 1939 and 1941. The structure exemplifies the architectural contradictions of the Fascist era, blending rationalist principles with eclectic ornamental traditions. Today it serves as the headquarters of the Guardia di Finanza.
