The Palazzo San Giuliano, a monumental Sicilian Baroque palace built in 1738, occupies Piazza Universitaria in central Catania. Designed by Giuseppe Palazzotto, Francesco Battaglia, and Giovanni Battista Vaccarini, it originally served as a private residence for the San Giuliano branch of the House of Paternò before being repurposed over successive centuries as a hospital, bank, theater, and hotel. Today it houses the administrative offices of the University of Catania, positioned across the piazza from the Palazzo dell'Università, which contains the rector's offices, a library, and a small museum.
