Palazzo Schifanoia is a Renaissance palace in Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna, built for the Este family and now a museum. Its name is thought to derive from "schifare la noia," meaning to escape from boredom, reflecting its role as a place where the Este court relaxed. It is best known for its allegorical frescoes, executed around 1469–70 by or after Francesco del Cossa and Cosmè Tura, with details in tempera, a unique survival of their time.
