Paphos Lighthouse stands on Paphos Point, a peninsula reaching into the Mediterranean at the south-western end of Cyprus, near the city of Paphos. Built in 1888 under British administration, it served as a landfall marker for ships bound for Paphos harbour from Britain. The 20-metre whitewashed masonry tower has a single gallery and lantern, and its light, with a focal height of 36 metres, flashes white every fifteen seconds and is visible for 17 nautical miles.
