Pavia Cathedral is a Catholic cathedral and seat of the Diocese of Pavia in Pavia, Italy, and an architectural ensemble of Renaissance design, with work attributed to Giovanni Antonio Amadeo and Donato Bramante. Construction began in the 15th century on the site of two earlier Romanesque cathedrals, Santo Stefano and Santa Maria del Popolo. The cathedral houses the remains of St. Sirus, first Bishop of Pavia, and a thorn said to be from the Crown of Thorns. Its exterior marble facing was never completed.
