The Pennsylvania State Capitol stands in downtown Harrisburg as the seat of state government and the main building of the Pennsylvania State Capitol Complex. Designed by Joseph Miller Huston, who began the design in 1902, it was completed in 1906 in a Beaux-Arts style with Renaissance-inspired decoration. Often called a "palace of art" for its sculptures, murals, and stained-glass windows, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
