Plaça de Francesc Macià is a square and garden in La Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample, Barcelona, crossed by Avinguda Diagonal and several other major thoroughfares. Designed in the Noucentisme style by Nicolau Maria Rubió i Tudurí and built from 1932, it is named after Francesc Macià, the Catalan president who proclaimed a short-lived Catalan Republic. Its central pond is shaped after the island of Menorca, the architect's birthplace, and holds the sculpture Joventut, added in 1953. The square has urban protection and is part of Catalonia's cultural heritage.
