Located in Carlton, Melbourne, the Plumbers and Gasfitters Employees Union Building is a brutalist office structure completed in 1971 following its 1969 commission. Designed by architect Graeme Gunn in creative collaboration with landscape designer Ellis Stones and Merchant Builders, the building exemplifies the modernist architectural intentions of its era. Its bold concrete forms and geometric vocabulary are characteristic of brutalist design. The building is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register, recognizing its significance as both a functional union headquarters and an architecturally distinctive example of early 1970s Australian design.
