Ponnani Lighthouse stands on the south bank of the Bharathappuzha river in Ponnani, Malappuram district, Kerala. Its origins date to 1937, when a steel mast with an oil wick was hoisted to guide vessels entering the port. The present circular tower, 30 metres tall, was commissioned on 17 April 1983 and uses a metal halide lamp.
