Porta Nuova is a monumental city gate and triumphal arch in Palermo, Italy, marking the entrance to the Cassaro, the city's main and most ancient street, from Corso Calatafimi. It stands beside the Palazzo dei Normanni, the royal palace. Built in 1669 in the baroque style to a design by Gaspare Guercio, it commemorates Charles V's conquest of Tunis in 1535 and his visit to the capital of the Kingdom of Sicily.
