Qixia Temple, a Buddhist monastery on Qixia Mountain in the Qixia District of Nanjing, approximately 22 kilometres northeast of the city centre, was built in 1919. Designed in traditional Chinese architectural style, it stands as one of Nanjing's most significant Buddhist establishments and holds particular historical importance as the cradle of East Asian Mādhyamaka, a major school of Buddhist philosophy.
