The Quackenbush Hardware Store in Eugene, Oregon, is a 1.5-story commercial building constructed in 1902 in the Chicago School style. Built of red brick in American stretcher bond, the structure features the hallmark large display windows characteristic of early commercial architecture. Originally opened in 1903 as J. W. Quackenbush's, the store initially sold farm implements, hardware, and horse-drawn vehicles before gradually shifting its inventory toward kitchen items, dinnerware, toys, and gifts. The architect and builder remain unknown. The building was preserved from urban renewal demolition in 1969 through the efforts of concerned citizens and was subsequently listed on the National Register of Historic Places, remaining an important example of early-twentieth-century commercial design until its closure in 1980.
