Rosslyn Chapel, also called the Collegiate Chapel of Saint Matthew, is a 15th-century Episcopal chapel in the village of Roslin, Midlothian, Scotland. William Sinclair, 1st Earl of Caithness, founded it, with a ground-breaking ceremony in 1456. Its interior carvings have prompted much interpretation from historians. After the Scottish Reformation it was largely abandoned until a visit by Queen Victoria led to its rededication in 1862.
