The Royal Exchange is a Grade I listed neoclassical building in the City of London, designed by Sir William Tite and built of Portland limestone. Founded in the 16th century by the merchant Sir Thomas Gresham as a centre of commerce, it was rebuilt in the 1840s on a trapezoidal plan where Cornhill and Threadneedle Street converge at Bank junction. Built to house the London Stock Exchange, which now operates elsewhere, it today contains restaurants and luxury shops.
