Royal Liverpool University Hospital, completed in 1978 in Liverpool, England, is a major teaching and research hospital designed in the brutalist architectural style. As the largest and busiest hospital in Merseyside, it serves as a central facility for NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group and maintains affiliations with the University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores University, and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. The hospital underwent major redevelopment beginning in 2013, which experienced significant delays due to construction complications and the 2018 collapse of main contractor Carillion, ultimately opening in its redeveloped form in late 2022.
