The Royal Opera House is a theatre in Covent Garden, central London, and the main home of the Royal Ballet and Opera. The first theatre on the site opened in 1732, and the current building, the third there after fires in 1808 and 1856, was designed by Edward Middleton Barry. Its façade, foyer and auditorium date from 1858, while most of the present complex dates from a 1990s reconstruction. The main auditorium seats 2,256 and is Grade I listed.
