The Royal Palace of Turin is a historic palace of the House of Savoy in Turin, northern Italy, originally built in the 16th century. Christine Marie of France modernized it in the 17th century, with designs by Filippo Juvarra, and it includes the Chapel of the Holy Shroud, built to house the Shroud of Turin. The state acquired the palace in 1946 and made it a museum. In 1997 it joined the UNESCO World Heritage List alongside 13 other Savoy residences.
