Rozafa Castle, also called Shkodër Castle, stands on a rocky hill 130 metres above sea level in Shkodër, northwestern Albania, surrounded by the Buna and Drin rivers. The hill was settled from the Early Bronze Age, and its earliest fortification walls, dating to the 4th–3rd century BCE, formed the citadel of the Illyrian city of Skodra. The visible walls are mostly of Venetian construction.
