The Sacra di San Michele is a Romanesque abbey on Mount Pirchiriano, on the south side of the Val di Susa in the municipality of Sant'Ambrogio di Torino, Piedmont, northwest Italy. Built from around 901, it was long under Benedictine rule and is now entrusted to the Rosminians. A regional law calls it the symbolic monument of the Piedmont region, and it served as one of the inspirations for Umberto Eco's novel The Name of the Rose.
