The Sacred Heart Cathedral, also called Hongjialou Cathedral, is a Gothic Revival Roman Catholic cathedral in Jinan, capital of Shandong Province, China, and seat of the Archdiocese of Jinan. Built between 1901 and 1905 and extended in 1906 with funds from the indemnity stipulated by the Boxer Protocol, its Latin-cross plan and two tall towers recall Notre Dame de Paris. Designed by the Franciscan brother Korbinian Paugger, it was closed during the Cultural Revolution and reopened on Christmas Day 1985.
