Sacred Heart Cathedral, also known locally as Yamate Catholic Church, stands in Yamatechō, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Japan, and is the seat of the bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Yokohama. Designed by Czech architect Jan Josef Švagr in a Neo-Gothic style, it was completed in 1933 to replace the brick church on the site, which was destroyed in the 1923 Great Kantō earthquake. It became the diocesan cathedral when the diocese was erected in 1937.
