Saint Peter's Church stands within the archaeological site of Capernaum on the west coast of the Sea of Galilee in northern Israel. It is a modern Catholic pilgrimage church, part of the Franciscan monastery there and dedicated to Saint Peter. Completed in 1990, it was built over the remains of earlier structures, including a first-century church believed possibly to be the house of the Apostle Peter, and an octagonal fifth-century church.
