San Antonio de Padua Mission Church stands at Sandia Pueblo in Sandoval County, New Mexico, representing one of the earliest mission structures in the region. Built in 1610, it exemplifies Mission Revival architecture, the distinctive style that emerged from Spanish colonial efforts to establish religious and administrative centers throughout the New Mexico territory. The church served as both a spiritual center and focal point of the mission station, which functioned to convert and acculturate the local Tiwa Pueblo people to Spanish colonial rule.
