San Pietro stands just outside Tuscania in the province of Viterbo, Lazio, as a striking example of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Its façade commands attention through a large rose window adorned with mosaics and framed by the symbols of the Four Evangelists at the corners, while elaborate carved reliefs depicting plants, animals, saints, and Old Testament figures ornament the flanking surfaces. A loggia sits below, with a monumental sculpted portal featuring a rounded arch at ground level. Inside, the nave is defined by rounded Romanesque arches leading to a chancel crowned by a ciborium above the main altar, its floor laid in geometric mosaic work. The crypt exhibits Gothic tracery, marking a later phase of the building's development. Now designated as an Italian national heritage site and museum under the Ministry of Culture, San Pietro preserves centuries of artistic and theological expression within its stone walls.
