Sant'Antonio da Padova in Via Merulana is a minor basilica in Rome, standing one block from the Obelisk of St. John Lateran. Built of brick in the Renaissance Revival style, it was made for the Order of Friars Minor, who needed a new home after being moved from Santa Maria in Ara Coeli to allow the construction of the Victor Emmanuel II Monument. Consecrated in 1887, it was elevated to minor basilica status in 1931.
