Santa Maria della Salute, commonly called La Salute, is a Roman Catholic minor basilica and votive church at the Punta della Dogana in Venice, Italy. The Republic of Venice vowed to build it after the 1630 plague, and Baldassare Longhena designed it in the Baroque style, with construction beginning in 1631. Built of Istrian stone, its octagonal form and dome became emblematic of the Venice skyline, and it is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
