Santa Maria is a medieval Romanesque church located in Uta, Sardinia, Italy, built in the mid-12th century, possibly by monks from the Abbey of St. Victor in Marseille. The structure may have been erected on the remains of an earlier building and exemplifies the blending of Provençal and Tuscan Romanesque influences on local medieval architecture, reflecting the region's historical ties to the Republic of Pisa. The church's documented history begins in 1363, when King Peter IV of Aragon transferred it from the Knights Hospitaller to the Order of Sant Jordi d'Alfama. Subsequently held by the Franciscans, it passed in the late sixteenth century to the archdiocese of Cagliari.
